This Grandfather clock movement is very early, probably circa 1740. It was made by Gabriel Smith of Chester and has a deadbeat escapement which is rare.
The case is of a small solid mahogany stature, standing only 6 feet. The movement needed fully dismantling, cleaning and relubrication. The movement is of exceptional quality and is a credit to the clockmaker.
