This weight driven wall clock C1890 was collected from an old gent in his mid 80s who informed me it was given to his mum & dad as a wedding gift & he remembers it being there throughout his childhood so it holds great sentimental value to him so understandably he was very reluctant who he trusted to restore his clock.
We spent some time with him listening to his stories & taking notes & he put it across to us that the restoration needs to be sympathetic his words where all the bumps etc have meaning & he wants them preserved, he said he remembers how they got there, so after about an hour & a cup of tea & a chocolate biscuit or 2 we finally got his trust to breath some new life into this old clock & when we return his clock I’m sure the sound of the tick & the strike of the gong will once again take him back to his childhood & bring happy memories as a child flooding back.
