This is a fine example of a traditional Grandfather clock made by the famous Prescot clock and toolmaker John Wyke circa 1750.
The case is of solid oak construction and has been veneered in walnut. It had some loss of the veneer but we were able to get a good match. The dial has been re-silvered using traditional silver oxide and then given a coat of clear lacquer.
The movement was fully serviced and the gut line has been replaced with traditional catgut. The gut line is the method of suspending a clocks drive weights.
Finally, the clock case has had a full wax feed and polish which has brought this clock back to its former glory.
