Another Railway timepiece in a very nice dark oak case, it come to us for a simple service, the customer who is a collector & has many clocks informed me that it had not been serviced for 25 years so he expected the worst. The case & dial are in great condition & the dial had been refinished the last time it had a service, so back to the movement on inspection the movement was in good shape & the only casualty was the main spring, so a full strip down service & a replacement mainspring completed the job & Jim was over the moon.
Being honest this type of clock are true work horses just like the old factory clocks very very well made & built for reliability but like everything mechanical they do need a service from time time, there where a few makers of this type of clock but Joyce is the most common movement encountered, they where in many railway stations up until probable c1960 then it moved to electric clocks.
